The purpose of this guide is to provide designers of juvenile and family court facilities with visions of useful and effective facilities, and not prescriptions or standards. The goal of this project is to identify design issues, provide guidance in addressing these issues and stimulate the creative process...
Method
Three sources of information were used to inform these guidelines: -the minimal existing design literature on juvenile and family court facilities; -the perceptions of an experienced task group of advisors and consultants, and our staff at the National Center for Juvenile Justice -the results of the first and only post-occupancy survey assessment conducted by the National Center for Juvenile Justice of all those communities that have built juvenile and family court facilities within the last decade."
